Scouting

Cub Scout Den 105, Scouts BSA Troop 13 for Boys and Scouts BSA Troop 12 for Girls are part of the youth ministry of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Who are we?

Kids in Scouts have fun while learning leadership skills, expanding their horizons by learning new things and how to care for the environment around them. Scouting Packs and Troops at HPUMC serve youth ages Kindergarten through 18 years old. All Scouting programs are guided by registered adult leaders who have participated in Youth Protection Training and passed a background check by the Boy Scouts of America.

Scouting enrollment

Boys and Girls entering kindergarten or at least 5 years old or older may join Cub Scouts any meeting night. A parent or guardian should accompany the child to meet with the leaders to enroll in the program.

Boys and Girls age 11 through 17 may join Boy Scouts/Scouts BSA any meeting night. A parent or guardian should accompany the child to meet with the leaders to enroll in the program.

Scouting activities

The Pack holds regular outings and events including participation in Klondike Derby, Pinewood Derby, summer day camp and popcorn sales.

Both Troops go on regular camp outs and outings, including the Klondike Derby, summer camp, community service projects and other District events. They have fundraisers to help scouts with camp expenses. Scouts sell popcorn, burritos and fresh Christmas wreaths. Donations are welcome!

How Scouts BSA works for older youth:

The Scouts are divided into patrols and each patrol elects a leader. Patrol leaders meet regularly with the adult leaders to make sure that plans for the troop activities are complete.

Troop 12 is our BSA girls troop chartered to HPUMC.
